USB Driver Installation for Windows 7
The USB driver installation procedures described in the product User Guides must be modified when using Windows 7. When connecting an AI-5120, AI-5620, or AI-7280 to a PC running Windows 7 it normally attempts to automatically install a device driver.

However, unless the driver has been previously installed, Windows will be unable to locate a suitable driver. Use the following steps to install the USB device driver.

1. Open the system Control Panel and click on the 'Device Manager' item.

2. The Device Manager window lists all of the devices connected to and that are part of the PC's configuration. Devices that do not have a driver installed are listed under the category 'Other Devices'. In this example an AI-5120 is connected to the PC.

To install the USB driver, right click the mouse on the device (in this example 'AI-5120 Telephone Line Monitor'). Then select the 'Update Driver Software' menu item.

3. The next window asks whether a search should be conducted for a suitable device driver, or if the location of the driver is to be specified manually.

Click on 'Browse my computer for driver software' to manual set the driver location.

4. The USB device driver is included with the installation of the TRsSim software. The location of these files depend on the directory chosen for the TRsSim software; however, by default they are located at:

C:\Program Files\Advent\TRsSim\Drivers

Note that the USB device driver files are also located on the CD supplied with the product.

Select the appropriate directory for the driver files and then click the 'Next' button.

5. Normally Windows will be unable to verify the driver publisher. Select the 'Install this driver software anyway' option.

6. The final window should display the successful installation of the 'FT8U2XX' USB device driver. Click the 'Close' button.
